The basic principle of flame photometry measurement (AES) is known from chemical laboratories:when alkali or alkaline earth metals are introduced into a hot flame, they emit a flame colour characteristic of the respective element.
In AES laboratory measurements, the analytical substance is aspirated as an aqueous solution at the touch of a button. This aerosol is sprayed into a low-luminous flame. The thermal excitation causes the atoms to emit light at their characteristic wavelengths.
The emitted radiation is selected and analyzed and determined with the help of a detector.
